Best Foods For a College Dorm Room

By

College is a unique time in everyone's life. It can be tough and stressful at times, but I can tell you from experience that sometimes the best study aid or stress reliever is a good snack, or small meal. Here are some of my favorite food items that I keep in my dorm room for convenient meals or snacks.

1. Ramen Noodles

These are a staple for many students for many reasons. They are incredibly easy to make, they require nothing other than water and a microwave. They come in many different flavors and they are dirt cheap. They can either serve as a small meal or a warm snack. Easy to store and did I mention they're dirt cheap?

2. Easy Mac

I don't know anyone that doesn't love macaroni and cheese, so what's not to love about macaroni and cheese that can be cooked in minutes, in a microwave, with little to no prep. I keep a box in my room all the time for whenever I need a quick late night snack or I just havent eaten.

3. Poptarts

They are a great breakfast food with absolutely no prep time. Many schools don't allow toasters so if you don't like them cold I would suggest my next item.

4. Mini donuts

These never require any prep and are delicious for breakfast, snacks, or dessert. Not really the healthiest choice, but one of the tastiest.

5. Popcorn

Takes about 2 minutes in the microwave and makes a great snack. You can even get them in lower calorie serving sizes if you're watching weight or just not up to eating a whole bag.

6. low calorie snack packs

I usually get these in the variety bag, you can get them with dessert foods or snack like items such as cheez-its. They are limited calories so you're less likely to eat as many as if you just had an open full size bag in front of you, and they are delicious snacks. Easy to pop open and eat while studying.

7. lunchables

It may seem silly, but sometimes when you want something more than just chips or popcorn the little premade meals are nice. They probably wont fill someone up that hasn't eaten a meal, but if you're in a hurry to class and don't have time to stop in the cafeteria they make for a great snack to tide you over. Many of them don't even require much prep and the ones that do just need a microwave.

8. Hungry Man Meals

If you have a mini-fridge or freezer, you can keep one or two of these in there for emergency nights. Sometimes when you just have a test the next day and just can't find the time to get out and get food, these will do the trick. Many of them are surprisingly good and can be made in less than 10 minutes. They aren't terribly expensive either. They also have a huge variety of meals too so you won't get tired of having the same thing over and over again.

Well thats the list I hope you enjoyed it and that this helps some other new college kids or parents who are new college parents to help prepare them for the experience.
